TU Wien: every course has its own date
TISS has no common registration day. Each course opens its own groups, mostly around March and September. You usually get some group. The question is whether it is the one that fits your week.

How registration works
- Each course has its own window. For groups it is first come, first served.
- The rush is in group exercises. Lectures need no registration, and combined courses normally have enough places.
- Times vary widely. In summer 2026 for example: Datenbanksysteme on 2 March at 19:00, Einführung in die Programmierung 2 on 3 March at 17:00, Algorithmen und Datenstrukturen on 12 March at 20:00.
- TISS shows the date of each course. Until it is there, the list below shows periods only.
What is at stake
- Mostly the time of your group. Analysis for Informatics, for example, had 11 groups of about 30 places each: everyone gets a place, but perhaps not in the group they wanted.
- More is at stake in labs with few places and popular master's courses.
The next dates

What Fixplatz is meant to do
- Group registrations in TISS at the opening, with up to five ranked choices, planned from March 2027. That is what the technology handles today, about 30 are planned at WU.
- A warning if your laptop falls asleep or your session expires, and a practice run beforehand.
- One semester pass rather than a price per registration.
Where Fixplatz does not help
- Architecture's application pools. Preferences and progress count there.
- Courses with prerequisites such as an entry test, as long as you do not meet them.
- Swapping and deregistering. Fixplatz only registers.
Price
- €12semester pass
Example: you pay €12 in advance for the semester pass and arm three groups in March. It is used at the first verified registration, and all others in that semester are then covered. If none works all semester, the €12 stay as your balance, or you get them back on request.
You pay in advance by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or EPS. The pass is used at the first verified registration.
Questions about this university
Why not just take a free tool?
Feel free, if it is enough for you. With Fixplatz you get the warning before a failure, the practice run and the check of the result.
When are the dates for my courses?
Each course shows them in TISS. For the first groups: It is not published yet. From last year we expect from about 22 February 2027. The main period is March 2027, day per course. Fixplatz is planned only from March.
What if I land on the waiting list?
Nothing is used for that. The semester pass is used only when newer state in TISS shows you as registered.
May I use this at TU Wien?
TU's IT rules ask for efficient use that does not obstruct others. Fixplatz only registers you and does not blindly retry. TU's rules apply, and if you break them, you carry the consequences.
